How to Apply for Workforce Investment Network (WIN) Funds

This information is designed to be helpful for students apply for WIN funds. We recommend students contact the WIN office for more complete and up to date information.

Who may apply for WIN training funds?

Unemployed or underemployed (making $15 or less per hour) Tennessee residents at least 18 years of age or older who have a High School Diploma or GED may apply. In addition to other requirements, students will have to pass a TABE exam before being approved for funding.

Where and how do I apply?

Go to the Tennessee Career Center Orientation offered on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:15am and 12:45pm. We recommend that you call the WIN office for information for complete details prior to appearing for orientation. You must bring your State ID and Social Security Card with you.

When do I apply?

We recommend that you apply as early as possible but within 45 days of the school start date.

What schools and programs qualify for funding?

Moore Tech is an approved training provider for WIN. The approved programs at Moore Tech are Machine Shop, Industrial Electricity and Plant Maintenance, and Welding.

What is the maximum award amount and how many years can I qualify?

The maximum award is $4,000 per year and the maximum length that students can get funding is one year. Students enrolled in 2 year programs may apply for the last year of a two year program.

How do I find out that I am awarded the funds?

The Career Center will notify the students if you have been awarded. If you are notified that you have been approved, contact Moore Tech and let us know so we can confirm your award with the Career Center.

What happens if I do not get approved for WIN funds prior to the class start date?

Students who do not get approved prior to the first day of class will not qualify for WIN for that trimester and will have to work with the WIN office to qualify for the next trimester.
